Indian Hill guys, girls step to the tee box

INDIAN HILL – The occasionally plaid-clad putters of Indian Hill High School should be back in the post-season hunt in a couple of months if all goes according to the plans of coaches Topher Sheldon and Cynthia Annett.

The Braves were sixth at the district tournament last season and have 11 of their top 13 players back, including co-captain Michael Thorsen.

"He has been working hard on his game this summer and will be counted on to provide leadership," Sheldon said.

The veteran coach is hoping to find a No. 1 player out of Thorsen, Matt Neumann, Ben Friedberg and others. Indian Hill will have their work cut out for them in the Cincinnati Hills League with Wyoming and Mariemont.

"As is the case every years, if you can get hot at the right time, you might just end up playing in Columbus in October," Sheldon said.

The Lady Braves are back-to-back winners of the sectional tournament and will have senior Natalie Pavlick back along with juniors Alice Zhang, Gabby Goeke and Allie Satterfield.

The key loss is the graduation of Pari Keller who finished fifth in the Division II state tournament last fall and was first team all-state.

"The team looks good this year and we plan to keep our first-place finish at sectionals," Annett said.
