Early Saturday morning, the Running Braves boarded the school buses for Sidney, Ohio to participate in the 40th Annual Sidney Invitational. It may have been a late September morning, but the weather felt more like July with the temperature at 82 0 at the start of the girls’ varsity race. The ladies battled through the heat and humidity as Kelsey Edwards was the first Brave to cross the finish line in 9th place. Renee Blachman, Amy Prugh, Nicole Majchszak, and Vi Robertson completed the top five scoring position as the girl's team finished 4th.

On Wednesday, September 13, the Running Braves made their way to the west side of town to participate in the Taylor Invitational. The rain was falling lightly as the gun went off for the varsity boys’ race. The boys successfully battled the muddy conditions to win the team race. The five scoring athletes, who all ran personal records, were Ben Bayless, winning the race, Nolan Heffernan, 3rd place, Johnny Giroux, 4th place, Tommy Tauer, 8th place, and Spencer Mangialardo 11th place. Additional race highlights had Will Cassidy, Bradley Corl, Marc-Aurele Lallement, Luke Schumann, and Jack Taylor, all running a personal record for the year and over the 5K course.

On Saturday, September 9, 2017, the Running Braves made their way to the Mason Invitational at the Corwin Nixon Park. The Mason 5K course, with two creeks to cross, hay barrels to hurdle, and a steep mulch hill to conqueror, is the toughest course the Braves will encounter all season.
