Boys XC continue to out class D1 competition

The running braves had a successful and busy week, running the CHCA invitational on Tuesday, October 4 and with the short recovery, they participated in the Ross invitational on Saturday, October 8.  The CHCA invitational is an opportunity to have valuable competing experience on the District Championship course, and despite the heat and humidity, the running braves made the most of the event with the Boys finishing 1st and the Girls finishing 2nd. The boys were led by Joe Murdock’s first place finish followed by Ben Baylee, 3rd, Johnny Giroux, 7th, Nolan Heffernan, 8th, and Devin Heffernan, 9th, Ben Warstler, 11th and Benny Mendelsohn, 16th. The pack worked well together to score just 28 points. Joel Blackman, Johnny Giroux, Nolan Heffernan, Marc-Auerle Lallement, Joe Murdock, Luke Schuman, and Sam Smith ran personal records over the course.

The girls were led by Amy Prugh’s 7th place finish followed by Emily Sheard, 10th, Louisa Klaserner, 18th, Kelsey Edwards, 19th, Hannah Mendelsohn, 22nd, Vi Robertson 26th, and Renee Blachman, 27th to score 76 points as a tight pack, and finish second behind league rivals, Mariemont. Renee Blachman, Kelsey Edwards, and Nicole Majchszak ran personal records.

At the Ross invitational, once again, Amy Prugh and Emily Sheard led the way for the girl’s team against the Division 1 competition. Kelsey Edwards, Samantha Lee, Nicole Majchszak, Hannah Mendelsohn, Sydney Miles, Margot Brunette, Sophie Kushman, Laura Molina, Heidi Necamp, Olivia Sheldon, Samantha Silver and Anne Whaley all ran personal records over the long course, 3.2 miles.

The boys team continues to work successfully in their packs while making Indian Hill Cross country history. For the first time ever, they won the Milford and Kings Invitational against tough Division 1 competition, and they continued the streak at the Ross meet. They scored 53 points to edge out the Division 1, state ranked, Elder Panthers by 5 points. The top seven athletes were Joe Murdock, 4th, Ben Baylee, 5th, Patrick Giroux, 11th, Nolan Heffernan, 13th, Devin Heffernan, 20th, Johnny Giroux, 22nd, and Ben Warstler, 33rd. Nolan Heffernan, Benny Mendelsohn, Bradley Corl, Cameron Macke, Dan Markiewitz, and Bradley Wenker ran personal records.

The CHL Championship meet is up next, and the running braves are primed, pumped and excited to take on the challenge of the league meet. Deep breath, Positive thought! Let’s have fun and BE BRAVE!
