XC Regionals is a Reality!

The Running Braves competed in the District Championship meet at the Voice of America course on Saturday, October 22, 2016 where, for the girls, the top 3 teams and the top 12 individuals, and for the boys, top 2 teams and top 8 individuals qualify to move on to the Regional championship meet in Troy, Ohio.

Amy Prugh ran a season’s PR (20:12) to finish 8th. Amy was followed by Emily Sheard who also ran a season’s PR (20:37) to finish 12th No matter what happened with the team Emily and Amy had qualified to the Regional meet. Hannah Mendelsohn (23rd PR), Louisa Klaserner (26th with PR), Kelsey Edwards (27th with PR), Renee Blachman (28th with PR) and Vi Robertson (29th with PR) completed the seven Lady Braves runners. The team scored 87 points to finish third, and earn the 11th consecutive trip to the Regional meet for the girls. Well done, Ladies!

As the gun was fired for the boys’ varsity race, the Braves were trying to qualify to Regionals, and defend three consecutive District Championships. Could they make it a fourth?

Working together in their packs, the boys ran an intelligent and aggressive race. Joe Murdock was the first Brave and first runner to cross the finish line. Joe earned the title of “District Champion” while running a personal record over the course (16:37). He was followed closely by Ben Bayless (2nd with PR), Devin Heffernan (7th with PR), Nolan Heffernan (8th with PR), Johnny Giroux (11th), Patrick Giroux (12th) and Ben Warstler (14th) The boys scored 29 points to defeat 8 other schools, and for the fourth consecutive year, they earned the title of “District Champions” and a trip to Troy, Ohio. Outstanding job, Gentlemen!

The Regional meet is on Saturday, October 29, 2016. The boys run at 11:45 AM and the girls at 2:15 PM.
