Ben Bayless qualifies for the State Cross Country meet

Saturday, October 28, Emily Sheard boarded the school van with her entourage of teammates as she was the only Lady Brave running in the Regional Championship meet. Saturday was Emily’s 4th appearance at the Regional meet, and she embraced the opportunity to make a great memory for herself. She raced hard, passing runners the entire race, and she crossed the finish line with a smile. Emily, thank you for your 4 years of dedication to the Indian Hill cross country program!

It is a difficult journey to earn a spot to participate in the state of Ohio’s High School Cross Country Championship, and on Saturday afternoon in Troy, the gentlemen were reminded of just how tough it can be. Ben Bayless ran a personal record over the course and finished 7th to qualify for the state meet as an individual.

Johnny Giroux (19th) and Nolan Heffernan (31st) ran personal records over the course too. Joe Murdock and Tommy Tauer completed the scoring for the Braves as Bradley Corl and Nicolas Hollander complete the varsity team. Top four teams qualify for the state meet. The Braves finished 6th just 7 points from qualifying. There was disappointment as the gentlemen had set the goal of repeating the success of the 2016 team. Gentlemen, the season has been a successful journey! There are many lessons to be learned when falling short of completing the goal. In life, what gives a goal its value is the struggle to achieve it.

Good Luck to Ben Bayless as he prepares for the state championship meet on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the National Trail Raceway.
