Indian Hill field hockey to rely on fresh legs

INDIAN HILL – The highlight of the Indian Hill High School girls field hockey team was a 2-1 win over Summit Country Day last September.

Unfortunately, reality struck by October as the Lady Braves ended their season with consecutive 9-0 losses to Mount Notre Dame and St. Ursula. However, many squads lost to MND as the Cougars made it to the state championship game at Upper Arlington.

Former Indian Hill team captain (1993) Pamela Angel returns to coach the Lady Braves along with 1995 Indian Hill grad Tara Rose as an assistant. Nick Strike is also on staff.

For 2014, Indian Hill will field only a varsity squad.

"We have a lot of players this year that are mostly freshmen," Angel said. "(They) all seem to be promising field hockey stars. We're starting off this season with higher endurance levels. The girls have had access to the turf with no (Tomahawk Stadium) construction this year."

Indian Hill plays in the Southwest Ohio Field Hockey League with Mount Notre Dame, St. Ursula, Talawanda, Kettering Fairmont, Oakwood, Summit Country Day and Ursuline.

The Lady Braves host Fairmont on Sept. 10 and are at Ursuline Sept. 18.
