Indian Hill competes in tough field hockey league

INDIAN HILL - Though they have the distinction as the only team at Indian Hill High School that competes in plaid, the Lady Braves field hockey team would like to earn attention in other ways.

They were seventh in the Southwest Ohio Field Hockey League in 2015 and bowed out of the OHSAA tournament in late October with a 6-1 loss to traditional field hockey power Mount Notre Dame.

Leading the way for coach Tara Rose are senior captains Robin Schumacher and Bailey Bathalter, plus junior captains Georgia Kennedy and Shannon McCormick.

“They’re helping shape the rest of the girls into a wonderful strong team,” Rose said. “Our new players are coming out strong. I can’t wait to see how they all grow.”

Last year’s team only had two seniors, so many Lady Braves return with notable experience. Indian Hill hosts Fairmont on Sept. 8 and St. Ursula on Sept. 13. Their furthest road trip comes against Hilliard on Sept. 17.

“I love the camaraderie they have formed with each other; always looking out for each other and helping one another grow to be a better player each time they step on the field,” Rose said.
