(with deepest apologies to Grantland Rice)

Outlined against a blue-gray November sky, the Four Horsemen rode again. In dramatic lore, they are known as Famine, Pestilence, Destruction, and Death. These are only aliases. Their real names are MJ, A-Pod, E-Pod, and dH (OK, maybe that’s more like three horsemen and a Shetland pony with a bad attitude). They formed the crest of the Indian Hill cyclone before which a Lake Catholic Cougar team was swept over the precipice at MAPFRE Stadium Friday afternoon as 1500 (frozen) spectators peered down on the bewildering panorama spread on the green plain below.

COLUMBUS - Indian Hill junior goalkeeper Kate Marrs ran to the corner and slid on her knees. Her teammates chased behind. A dozen yards away, their fans celebrated something they’d never been able to celebrate before:

Indian Hill won the Division II state title.

“This is just the very best feeling,” head coach Amy Dunlap said after the game. “It’s just a great feeling and this has been such an amazing team.”

The Braves beat Lake Catholic 2-0 on Friday evening at MAPFRE Stadium in the Ohio Division II state championship game, finishing with a 22-0-1 record. They were the only undefeated in Ohio girls soccer this season.

KETTERING — When the final whistle sounded, the Indian Hill players stormed the field and made a massive circle around goalkeeper Kate Marrs.

For the first time since 2004, the Braves are heading to the Division II state championship game, after they beat Big Walnut 4-0 Tuesday night, Nov. 7, at Kettering Fairmont High School in the state semifinals.

“Oh, gosh, it’s been a long time,” Indian Hill coach Amy Dunlap said after the win. “I’m really, really happy for them. They’re a very, very special team."
