Lady VB Braves Net another Win!

Annabelle Berwanger elevates for the kill

The Lady Volleyball Braves had too much firepower for the visiting Wildcats of Finneytown.  The combination of experienced leadership from Karen Folz and Teensy Zang with outstanding hitting from Annabelle Berwanger and Kathy Ning proved to be too much for the Wildcats as the Braves won the match without dropping a set.  As always the supporting cast contributed in key way, with Audrey Koster and Allison Kennebeck providing defensive offense at the net, setter Haley Henry serving and setting it up, and all around player Christina Shannon contributing some key digs. Showing that height is just a number, Folz and Zang both hit well in addition to digging duties, contributing a balanced attack that the Wildcats could not counter.

Getting some key minutes in the second and third games were juniors Kate Vollmer, Maryam Shaaban, and Brynn Winans, as well as freshman swing player Hunter Fry.  After a disappointing loss on Tuesday to crosstown rival Taylor, the future is looking bright for Coach Hughes.

The Braves look ahead to their toughest opponent yet with perennial CHL powerhouse Wyoming coming to the IHHS gym for a rare Saturday night contest between the Braves and the Cowboys. JV is at 530 and Varsity is at 7pm  Skip the date and come out to support your Braves.

New week, the Braves take on their toughest opponent yet-Breast Cancer.  The Braves are hosting a Volley for the Cure event against neighborhood rival Madeira on Tuesday September 13th.  Come out and pack the stands in PINK!  All proceeds will go to support Komen for the Cure Foundation.
