Braves Topple Wyoming 11-3 behind Mighty Joe Oakes

Sophomore “Mighty Joe Oakes” scattered 6 hits and 2 walks over 6 innings of work and led the Braves to an 11-3 victory over Wyoming on Wednesday afternoon.  All 9 hitters in the Braves lineup produced either a hit or a walk in the team's 13 hit and 7 walk attack.  Keith Hammond contributed 3 hits and 2 RBI's while Max Ruschau also garnered 3 hits. Two hit games for Seth Brafford and Chandler Harris (plus 2 walks) added to the offensive explosion.

It was a scoreless game going into the top of the 4th when the Braves bats took over and batted around scoring 4 runs giving Oakes all he needed in his effective 89 pitch effort.  Senior Ian Book needed just 10 pitches in relief of Oakes to down Wyoming in the 7th inning.

The Braves are now 8-4 in CHL play while Wyoming drops to 4-8.

The 2 get together again on Friday afternoon on Drake Road as well as on Tuesday (5/9) for Round 1 of the State Tournament.
