Indian Hill girls lacrosse wins state title in final seconds

In a back-and-forth affair that went down to the final five seconds, No. 1 Indian Hill topped No. 3 Chagrin Falls in the girls lacrosse Division II state championship to earn their school’s first girls team state championship.

“It was amazing,” Braves senior Robin Schumacher said. “It was a feeling we’ve never had before. We’ve been working for it for four years, and it’s amazing to finally achieve it.”

Schumacher helped lead Indian Hill to a 13-12 win over the Chagrin Falls at Selby Stadium in Delaware Saturday.

Indian Hill girls lacrosse highly ranked

INDIAN HILL - In the early May Laxpower rankings (www.laxpower.com), the Indian Hill High School girls lacrosse team is ranked No. 5 in the state of Ohio.

In front of the Lady Braves, in order, are Upper Arlington, Sycamore, Massillon Jackson and New Albany, all Division I schools.

That makes the girls, coached by Katie Post, the top Division II program in the state.

“We’re very fortunate, especially with the caliber of teams we’ve been playing this season,” Post said. “The girls are very happy with what they’ve been able to accomplish.”

Girls Lacrosse Focused for a Long Season Ahead

Starting off the season with two close games ending in loses for the Braves, the Indian Hill Girls Varsity LAX Team headed to Columbus on April 11th for the Annual Hannigan Tournament. Having to face the team the Braves knocked out of the State Semi-Finals last season, Chagrin Falls was looking to serve the Braves another loss. With a tough and very close game, the braves were able to pull ahead by one, with a goal by freshman Bea Fries.
