Braves Cheerleaders selected as "Top Banana" at Summer Cheer Camp

Braves cheerleaders have not only been working all summer, but working hard. Learning, growing, bonding and improving through everything from practices, coaching youth cheerleaders, to attending UCA summer camp at Miami University. The cheerleaders hosted a week long summer cheer camp for the youth cheerleaders to teach them the skills of cheerleading and the values and roles of being a cheerleader in your school and community. Throughout the summer the IH Lady Braves attended UCA summer camp where they won the banana (a top award given to the most spirited squad each day) and multiple trophies during the camp competition and also won camp championships out of 14 other teams.

At camp the cheerleaders also learned how to stunt, and improved on tumbling, dancing, jumps and being a leader in their schools. Now that the cheerleaders are in their school year, they have new things to look forward to, and work for. Along with working hard to be game day ready for every Friday night game this season, the cheerleaders work towards CHL cheer competition in November. Being last year’s champions for the first time since 2007, the cheerleaders have a target on their back and are ready to come back better and stronger to bring home another gold. Later this year the cheerleaders will also be competing in Regional competitions, in the hopes of qualifying for the NHSCC (National High School Cheer Competition) at Disney World in February. The braves have cheered at nationals for the past two years and hope to go back this year to represent Indian High School in the way they know best, by cheering! It’s a busy, intense and exciting year ahead for the braves cheerleaders, but they’re ready to take on the year!
