Wrestlers Take 3rd At Xenia Invitational & Win Trio Match At Turpin

Due to the continued growth of the wrestling program, Coach Eigher and assistants Cummings and Johnson have very high expectations for the team and registered them in some very competitive early season matches. On December 17, 2016, the Braves ability was tested against 10 other teams in the Xenia Invitational Tournament at Xenia High School. The Braves grapplers finished 3rd overall in team rankings, and two wrestlers placed first in their weight classes.  The Braves competed against Little Miami, Southeastern, Cooper of Kentucky, Canal Winchester, Xenia, Fairborn, Trotwood-Madison, Roger Bacon, Greenview, and Deer Park.

Will Steuerwald (160 lbs.) and John Mark Williams (182 lbs.) were awarded plaques for their first place finishes. Medals went to third placer Cooper Leszczuk (106 lbs.) and fourth placers Jason Clark (138 lbs.) and Charlie Lindberg (170 lbs.). Following the strong showing at Xenia, the Braves next met 2 other teams in a tri-match.

On December 20, the Braves bested both the Turpin Spartans and Shroder Jaguars in a three team match. Up next is the Madeira Invitational on January 6th & 7th.
