Will Steuerwald takes 1st and team finishes 7th at Madeira Invitational

The Braves work! Whether it’s in the weight room or practice room, their efforts pay off. They started off 2017 with impressive performances. William Steuerwald grappled his way to the championship stand to take first place in the 160 lb. weight class at the Madeira Invitational Tournament. The long-running tournament fielded 23 teams, including a perennial West Virginia powerhouse, with many local elite programs. Along with William, the squad also achieved high placements from Jaden Anderson (4th. 126 lb.), Jack Steuerwald (4th. 145 lb.), John Mark Williams (4th. 182 lb.) and Charlie Lindberg (5th. 170 lb.). The team finished 7th overall.

The pins and wins continued 3 days later in a dual match against Milford on January 10. They beat the Eagles 38-31. With the win, the Braves remained undefeated in dual matches this season. Next up, the Braves travel to the East Clinton Duals on Saturday, January 14, 2017. Wrestling will begin at 11:00 a.m. This round-robin style tournament also draws elite and perennial powerhouses. Following E. Clinton, the Braves have a dual match against Hamilton High School on Friday, January 20. This match is at home.
